Amazon.nl has officially commissioned Bleckmann's fulfilment centre. The logistics provider will also handle operational activities for the e-commerce company. Bleckmann's warehouse is located at XL Businesspark Twente and has a favourable geographical location close to the German border. As a result, it connects seamlessly with Amazon.nl's international logistics network. The actual start of operations was on 7 August this year.
Bleckmann and Amazon.nl have signed a multi-year lease agreement. The warehouse enables Amazon.nl to add new valued Dutch and international brands to their assortment. Chief Business Development Officer of Bleckmann, Jurrie-Jan Tap: "In total, Amazon.nl will have access to over 2,200 cubic metres of storage space from which up to 25,000 parcels can be processed daily. In the long term, the warehouse will provide employment for nearly 170 employees. "
Amazon in the Netherlands
Amazon has around 1,250 employees in the Netherlands and is based with its head office in Amsterdam, a sorting centre in Rozenburg (DNL1) and the new fulfilment centre in Almelo. Amazon's logistics fleet in the Netherlands currently numbers more than 260 vans, including around 40 electric vans. More than 600 million products are now available via Amazon.nl. The range is constantly expanding and for millions of products the rule is: ordered before noon, delivered the same day. For even more products: ordered today, delivered next day.
