Logistics multinational DHL and developer of logistics business parks OML have joined the e-Fulfilment Hub partnership. This collective includes entrepreneurs, governments and educational institutions from the Keyport region.
At the end of last year, the Central Limburg joint venture was established to enthuse website owners looking to expand pan-European to the region. Within e-Fulfilment Hub, partners are active in the fields of warehousing, transport, packaging and fulfilment. Together, they position themselves as the one-stop-shop for webshop owners. The focus here is on pan-European fulfilment of orders placed with Dutch web shops; according to the collective, a market that grows by 30 to 40 per cent every year.
Growing need for logistics services
DHL has joined the collective as a last mile carrier and OML as a developer of business parks and accommodation for logistics companies. "We have been watching this Central Limburg partnership and their proposition towards web shops with great interest for quite some time," Don Mandors, Major Account Manager Fulfilment at DHL explains the move. "DHL also sees the need for logistics services from e-commerce and fulfilment companies growing enormously year on year. We want to be the last mile carrier for them, and if that 'last mile' is not driven in the Netherlands, but elsewhere in Europe, then Central Limburg is strategically a smart choice."
From national to international hotspot
OML sees joining e-Fulfilment Hub as a natural choice Jeroen Bertjens, Advisor Marketing & Sales of OML: "The logistics sector considers Limburg as the national hotspot. Due to the strong growth of e-commerce, especially when looking at orders shipped from the Netherlands across Europe, our region is also increasingly seen as the international hub. We are therefore keen to facilitate international e-commerce companies from business accommodation space to realise their European ambitions from central Limburg."
