Logistics trade fair CeMAT in Hanover is no more. While global versions of the trade fair will continue to exist, the original German variant will be inserted into industry fair Hannover Messe.
The logistics trade fair was previously part of Hannover Messe; until 2002, CeMAT was organised simultaneously with the comprehensive industry fair. In subsequent years, CeMAT continued as an independent, biennial trade fair. However, organiser Deutsche Messe faced stiff competition from LogiMAT, which managed to attract more exhibitors and visitors every year. Back in 2016, it was decided that CeMAT would once again fall under Hannover Messe. Now it appears that the curtain is finally falling on the trade fair.
Once every two years, starting from 2020, Hannover Messe will have a logistics division. 'Logistics' will take place in Halls 2, 3 and 4 and will feature exhibitors in warehousing, material handling, warehouse vehicles, packaging and logistics services. Items such as logistics automation and digitalisation will be exhibited annually, though, then interwoven into other sections of the trade fair.
The revamped Hannover Messe consists of seven categories covering a variety of topics within the concept of Industry 4.0:
- Logistics
- Future Lab
- Automation, Motion & Drives
- Digital Ecosystems
- Energy Solutions
- Engineered Parts
- Compressed Air & Vacuum Technology
With the transformation, the organiser says it wants to meet the changing needs of the industry.
