Now that the hotel and catering industry has to close down again, transport entrepreneurs who supply the hotel and catering industry should also be able to appeal for government support. That is what Transport en Logistiek Nederland (TLN) advocates, as the sector is currently not eligible for the Tegemoetkoming Vaste Lasten (TVL). Unjustified, the industry association believes.
When the TVL was created, the government drew up a list of sectors that can claim the relief. The transport sector is not on that list. According to Boeve, it is completely unclear why. "Now hard-hit entrepreneurs are simply falling by the wayside, while their turnover plummets," says TLN director Jan Boeve.

After all, the transport sector is inextricably linked to the sector they supply. Boeve: "If a pub has to close, the pub owner, who no longer sells beer, can apply for a maximum of 90,000 euros in government support. But the transporter, who transports less because of the pub closure, gets nothing at all. That is really incompatible."
The cabinet announced on Tuesday night that catering businesses like restaurants and pubs must close, so TLN is urging the cabinet to support aggrieved transport entrepreneurs now.
