The Inspectorate SZW is going to inspect whether companies are complying with corona measures more often in the coming period. According to the body, employers have had sufficient time to take measures since the crisis broke out.

Speaking to BNR, a spokesperson stated that the Inspectorate SZW will inspect more often in the coming period and take stricter action. So far, the instation received almost 2,800 reports about unsafe situations on the shop floor related to the coronavirus, most of them about not keeping the one-and-a-half-metre distance and poor hygienic conditions. Many workers are worried about colleagues who may have the virus and show up at work anyway.

Against 30 companies, the inspectorate eventually took action. They received an official warning. BIf a subsequent offence, a fine will follow. Two companies had to close their doors temporarily because corona rules were not or not sufficiently followed.

Companies that have not taken measures cannot count on leniency from the inspectorate in the coming period. "It is also no longer acceptable for employers to say they still have to buy splash guards or other stuff. They have already had that opportunity. We will take stricter action in the coming period and also inspect more," the spokesperson said.
