Eindhoven-based employment agency Smart Robotics is going to lend flexible robots to logistics companies. It is currently developing software that allows robots to be quickly configured and made ready for start-up. To this end, it recently received a financial injection from the Brabant Development Agency.

Logistics and manufacturing
When developing the new software, Smart Robotics focuses mainly on companies in the logistics and manufacturing industries. Robots would serve well as temporary workers in these sectors, because relatively short and repetitive work activities take place here. Because the investment in robot technology is often considerable, small and medium-sized companies are not yet very much engaged in the latest developments in this field. Smart Robotics expects to lower this threshold with the new robot. "We want to offer a flexible robot that can be used for various tasks and can be operational within a day," says founder Mark Menting. "If you don't like the robot, we will take it back."

Palletising and packing
"Our robots are very interesting for infralogistics," Menting continues. "Think about palletising goods or packing products in warehouses of online shops such as Bol.com. In our customer experience centre, there are currently products from five companies for testing." Smart Robots expects its first concrete order in the near future.
