Principals in the transport sector will soon also be held liable
for underpayment of employees. The Senate has
agreed.

It concerns the extension of the Act on Tackling Shadow Constructions(WAS). This law ensures that not only
employers will be held responsible for paying correct wages to
their employees, but also principals. However, the law did not apply to
work under a transport or freight forwarding agreement. A
thorn in the side of the transport industry, as that is precisely where a lot of
exploitation.

With the agreement of the Senate, goods transport by
road will be added to the law. From 2017, therefore, better enforcement of
fair payment. We must put an end to unfair competition
on the road and with drivers driving around here for little and thus stealing other people's
work," says
Social Affairs Minister Asscher on the agreement.
