Eindhoven startup ChainCargo has received 400,000 euros in growth funding. With the amount, the company wants to further develop and scale up its app for urgent shipments in the Benelux.

ChainCargo is a booking platform for urgent shipments. The start-up uses existing transport movements of now 200 connected couriers. Companies that want to send a load last minute can see on the app which driver is available nearby and can take the shipment. They can then track their shipment in real time.

A year after its founding, ChainCargo has 16 employees. The company targets both single shippers, who want to send something now and then, and parties that need regular transport. For larger companies, ChainCargo acts as a partner for smarter transport.

App optimisation and Benelux expansion

The capital injection, partly from BOM Brabant Ventures, is intended to further optimise the app, expand the team and scale up in the Benelux. "We are excited and proud to already have the first investors behind us within a year of our founding," says co-founder Giovanni Gubbels, Head of Business & Operations. "Our service responds to important issues in the transport sector. That is being noticed."

Traffic jams and CO2 emissions

Reducing traffic jams and cutting CO2 emissions is one of our most important tasks," says investment manager Robin Franken of BOM Brabant Ventures. ChainCargo shows that smart use of transport means can reduce the number of kilometres driven by 10-15 per cent. Potentially, even savings of 40 per cent can be achieved. This is not only good for the environment. It also reduces traffic jams."
