Delivery service UberEATS will start delivering meals in Amsterdam from Thursday. The company does not charge delivery fees and does not work with a minimum order amount. "If you just want to order an ice cream, you can have it delivered for free," said Jambu Palaniappan of UberEATS.

In the Financieele Dagblad, UberEATS explains how it plans to conquer the Amsterdam delivery market. The company will launch in our capital from Thursday. As of then, it is already working with a wide range of "high-quality restaurants". Residents can order meals via the app between 11am and 11pm.

Uber is launching a separate app for UberEATS, but users can log in with their existing Uber account. The company expects that the tens of thousands of Amsterdam residents who use the taxi service will also use UberEATS.

UberEATS competes in Amsterdam with fast-growing Deliveroo and Foodora. Analysts say satisfied customers are unlikely to switch to another delivery service. However, both services charge 2.50 euros in delivery fees and have a minimum charge of 12.50. Yet Deliveroo and Foodora both have exclusive deals with restaurants, making it impossible for UberEATS to partner with them.
