The warehouse sector wants to further reduce the number of industrial accidents in warehouses with a code of conduct. Companies, interest groups and insurers are therefore today giving the go-ahead for the Healthy and Safe Warehouse Code.
It is the first time that parties in the warehouse sector are uniting for a safer warehouse. The number of accidents in warehouses has been falling slightly in recent years, but 1,500 accidents involving internal transport equipment still happen every year. There are even an average of seven deaths each year due to accidents in the warehouse. Sick leave due to physical overload costs companies millions of euros every year. For the warehouse sector, a joint approach for a healthier and safer warehouse was therefore necessary. These accidents can only be addressed by a change in corporate culture, the parties argue. The Healthy and Safe Warehouse Code should start to ensure this.

Companies that want to use the code can register online to get access to frequently asked questions, meetings, tips from companies and risk hotspots in and around the warehouse. In addition, they can add their own tips on safe and healthy working to the code.
