Zalando has secured its first fulfilment customer. The clothing
of the fashion brand is in Zalando's warehouse, from where it will be
shipped. It is still unclear which party is involved.
The German etailer
announced earlier this year that, like Amazon and bol.com, it wanted to take fulfilment
from third parties. In doing so, it said it wanted to become the "Spotify of the
fashion industry'. The programme is called Fulfillment by Zalando and
enables brands to ship their product via Zalando's logistical
infrastructure of Zalando. Last week, Zalando presented its
quarterly figures, where it became clear that the 'Fulfillment by Zalando' service
is now live.
Especially for
international fashion brands, Zalando's service offers opportunities. They do not have to set up
infrastructure or open shops to sell their clothes.
customers. Zalando also offers players in fashion the option of outsourcing the entire sales and
shipping process.
