E-fulfilment specialist Active Ants has opened its first international branch in Willebroek, Belgium. The automated warehouse is once again equipped with the Autostore and offers space for 80,000 bins of products.
Together with parent company bpost, Active Ants is aiming for international expansion. The branch in Belgium is the first step to that end. A location in Germany will soon follow. The 10,000 square metre fulfilment centre has the same set-up as Active Ants' new premises in Roosendaal.
Autostore robots, known as AMR carrier-ants, and packing machines are already running at full capacity in Willebroek. The packing machines pack to size and offer the possibility of customised prints, allowing web shops to print their own print on the packaging.
From the new branch, Active Ants aims to serve the Belgian market as well as Europe and the rest of the world, it writes in a press release. To do so, the company works together with bpost (for last-mile distribution) and with international sister companies Radial, Landmark Global and Dynalogic.
