Airbus Helicopters has opened a new logistics hub in Albacete, Spain, managed by Daher and equipped with robots from Exotec. Located next to Airbus Helicopters' production facility in Albacete, this 50,000-square-metre warehouse streamlines logistics processes.

For the complete design of the new hub, Airbus Helicopters called on its trusted logistics provider Daher. To provide the required level of service, Daher equipped the new hub with a highly automated and robotised storage system - the first of its kind in the aviation industry - using advanced technology from Exotec, a leading French specialist in warehouse robotics.

The hub's ambitious and innovative technologies reduce the total amount of storage space required and guarantee specific figures in terms of efficiency and responsiveness. Moreover, operators need to move around the site less frequently. Every aspect of the design focuses on optimising quality control, reducing human error, maximising safety and improving operators' working conditions.

Biofuel

The transport between the sites - also provided by Daher - uses biofuel trucks that reduce CO2 emissions by 90% compared to diesel. The new facility will eventually employ more than 300 people. 85 per cent of them are operators hired and trained by Daher in cooperation with the Employers' Federation of Albacete (FEDA) based on a strictly defined procedure to ensure the long-term future of the jobs created.

"We are proud to bring our expertise and innovative capabilities to Airbus Helicopters, using technology that firmly positions Daher on the path to Industry 4.0 to fully meet the objectives of this project," said Aymeric Daher, CEO of Daher's Logistics Division.
