Dutch companies can once again enter their safety innovations for the awards from testing and certification company DEKRA. The competition has three categories: transport safety, occupational safety and home safety.

For the award ceremony, DEKRA is collaborating with the German economic magazine Wirtschaftswoche. Although the Award is presented in Germany, the competition is the perfect opportunity for Dutch companies targeting the German market to draw attention to their business, the organisers write. "DEKRA has set it as its task to further increase safety in our society, especially in view of a digital world that is becoming increasingly complex," says Stefan Kölbl, CEO of DEKRA. "With our global network of services and laboratories, we are ready for the digital future and support innovative ideas and initiatives that make the world a safer place."

Applications for the DEKRA Awards can be submitted until 15 September 2017, with entries being judged by a panel of specialists. The jury is not looking for products, but for concepts. Based on clear criteria, the panel will identify a number of best practice projects in Europe that make a lasting contribution to improving safety. The focus will be on efficiency, ease of use, simplicity, effectiveness, sustainability and acceptance, among others.

In previous years, companies such as Airbus, Eaton Industries, EBM-papst, EnBW, Voith and Volkswagen went home with the award. The award ceremony will take place on 24 October 2017 at the Areal Böhler in Düsseldorf, Germany.
