Home furnishing retailer Flinders has moved into a new warehouse in the Amsterdam Westpoort port area. With the 14,000 square metre building, Flinders aims to accommodate growth. The retailer posted a 23 per cent increase in sales in the first half of 2020.
From Amsterdam, Flinders delivers to customers in the Netherlands and Belgium. The new warehouse will have a packaging machine that packages furniture and lamps to size. Flinders also plans to set up its own delivery service for large furniture there. "By scaling up both our own delivery service and installation and assembly by Flinders employees, we can claim our specialism even better," says COO Oscar Diele.

Due to the corona crisis, Flinders temporarily closed its shop in Zaandam in April and May. Nevertheless, the home furnishing shop saw sales rise in the first half of 2020. Online sales in particular increased (35 per cent). The B2B department that provides total furnishings for companies also showed positive growth, Diele said.
