Supermarket chain Jumbo is regularly hit by software problems, compromising its provisioning. Last Sunday, there was another software failure within SAP.
This is what Distrifood reports based on conversations with Jumbo entrepreneurs. The supermarket chain confirmed last weekend's failure. It was reportedly caused by an upgrade of the ordering system. According to Jumbo, supplies were hardly affected because a back-up forecast was chosen.
Several Jumbo shop owners claim it happens more often. This year, the tally already stands at three, says one retailer. The failures lead to unnecessary wastage, no-sales and extra work by restocking. "It creates a poor shop image and low daily sales," one entrepreneur told Distrifood.
Jumbo acknowledges the problem and stresses that the chain is working hard to prevent failures in the future. "This is obviously very annoying and we take this situation very seriously. Various trajectories have therefore also been started to improve these processes."
