Hornbach opens a distribution centre in Eindhoven for e-commerce. With the arrival of the new DC, consumers will also be able to order Hornach's full range of 120,000 items online.
Double growth figures
According to Hornbach, the number of online orders in the Netherlands is growing rapidly. The construction market has been recording double-digit growth figures in the Netherlands for 4.5 years, a significant part of which is booked online.
Hornbach considers a new distribution centre necessary for this reason. The premises in Eindhoven will have an area of 13,000 square metres and will be located on XPO Logistics' campus. The logistics service provider will take care of the daily operations.
Hornbach also delivers heavy products
Goods, including large sheet material and heavy products such as mortar, will be delivered from the distribution centre within 24 hours. According to Evert de Goede, managing director of Hornbach Netherlands, our country is trendsetting in Europe when it comes to online ordering. Consumers therefore expect to be able to order the construction chain's full range online.
The logistics site in Eindhoven will be completed in phases and commissioned from May 2020.
