Lidl is moving into two distribution centres in Moerdijk with a total area of 48,000 square metres. To this end, the supermarket group has signed a lease agreement with DHG. The parties say they are satisfied that in this 'special time it has been possible to reach a successful cooperation'.
DHG developed the distribution centres at its risk and has now found a tenant for them. From 1 April, Lidl will rent two newly built DCs in Moerdijk. The properties have 42,839 square metres of warehouse space, 4,731 square metres of mezzanine space and 350 square metres of office space. Lidl signed a ten-year lease with DHG, with the possibility of extending to the yet-to-be-developed adjacent 50,000 square metre properties.
The German supermarket group will use the DCs to store both food and non-food items. DHG and Lidl were already negotiating the rental transaction before the corona virus outbreak in the Netherlands. As a result, according to the companies, they still managed to reach a successful cooperation during the crisis.
SMARTLOG Moerdijk 3 is DHG's third SMARTLOG development in Moerdijk. It concerns a redevelopment of the former site of pipe coating company Conline. The multimodal site is located right next to Moerdijk's container terminal and covers 14 hectares. DHG is developing a complex there totalling 100,000 square metres.
After the lease to Lidl, three more properties totalling 50,000 square metres will become available for lease. These properties will be completed during this year.
