Price fighter Lidl has launched a pick-up service in Belgium. Consumers can collect their online ordered groceries in shop.

Lidl has been delivering groceries in Ghent through its Lidl Simpl service since the end of 2018. Lidl Simpl customers get their purchases delivered to their home within two hours. Now, a year after the launch of the online grocery service, a pick-up service will follow. Lidl is starting this in a store in Destelbergen, near Ghent. Consumers pay 2.99 euros for the service and can pick up their groceries at the counter with a barcode.

Lidl is expanding the service to a second store in mid-November. If the concept proves successful in both shops, expansion to other Belgian stores will follow.

Whether the service will also be rolled out to the Netherlands seems unlikely. Lidl does not yet sell food products online in our country.
