The Top Sector Logistics will support SMEs in the logistics sector in sharing data. Entrepreneurs who want to get started with the iSHARE agreement system are now eligible for a contribution to the costs of implementation, Michiel Haarman, programme manager at Top Sector Logistics, announced at ICT & Logistiek.

The iSHARE project was set up in 2016. Over two years, more than 20 public and private parties from the logistics sector jointly developed uniform agreements for identification, authentication and authorisation.

Sharing data with (un)known parties

Within the iSHARE network, parties are able to share data barrier-free with other parties who are also connected. Also with parties further down the chain that they do not (yet) know or hardly know, something many companies are still wary of.

Companies implementing iSHARE first make technical adjustments to their software. They do this themselves or with the help of their software supplier. Then they sign an Accession Agreement with the iSHARE Foundation.

Contribution to costs

At ICT & Logistiek, the Top Sector Logistics, initiator of the arrangement system, announced that it will support SMEs in the cost of its implementation. Companies that implement iSHARE will receive a 5,000 euro voucher. The financial support is intended to encourage SMEs to work according to the system's agreements.

'Entire sector benefits'

This offers endless possibilities not only to those companies, but also to the sector as a whole, Haarman argues. "For example, it will become much easier to make use of each other's transport capacity. And that in turn contributes to the Netherlands' position as a top logistics player. And not insignificantly: in doing so, we also bring down the sector's CO2 emissions."

In the first quarter of 2019

Companies that want to benefit from the scheme should implement iSHARE in the first quarter of 2019, with the condition that the application is in before the end of this year.
