Nedcargo is moving its entire logistics operation into the cloud. The logistics service provider says it does not want to be inhibited 'by the limitations of an outdated system'.

Currently, Nedcargo still uses a combination of different software systems in its seven branches. However, most of those software systems at Nedcargo proved outdated and their updating impossible, Nedcargo and software supplier Boltrics write in a press release.

'More time for other innovation projects'

The logistics provider is therefore switching to a solution from Boltrics, which allows it to keep updating. "At Nedcargo, we are continuously working on creating a smarter logistics chain and reducing waste. It is therefore important that new technologies can be adopted quickly, and branches and countries can easily cooperate with each other. Then you don't want to be inhibited by the limitations of an outdated system," explains Jurgen Mook, COO at Nedcargo Logistics Benelux. "At the same time, we relieve our IT department by housing the solution in the Microsoft Azure cloud. This frees up time for more and other innovation projects."

Central layer

The implementation will take place in phases over the next 18 months, with Nedcargo and Boltrics adding the seven branches one by one. Nedcargo has chosen to add a central layer above the various branches. In practice, this means that master data is managed centrally, duplicate entries can be avoided and customers are informed faster and more completely.
