Red je Pakketje has been driving completely fossil-free since this month. This green transformation is possible thanks to a €7.5 million investment.

The delivery service, owned by Sweden's Instabox since the beginning of this year, received the funding partly from Beequip. With the money, Save Your Package is buying 105 electric vehicles: 30 Maxus E3s and 75 Maxus E9s, with an additional 150 vehicles to follow later this year.

CEO Sam Rohn: "Since the founding of Red je Pakketje, we have been dreaming of sustainable parcel delivery. So we are very happy to reach this milestone today and proud to show that it can be done. But we don't stop here. We continue to do business based on the idea of wanting to do good for people and the environment."

Expansion of DCs

This year, the parcel delivery company is investing heavily in its network of distribution centres. The number of locations will grow from five to 11. Four distribution centres will have their own loading bays. In addition, Schouten Olie will supply storage tanks with fossil-free fuel (HVO100) at all distribution centres. This fuel produces significantly less CO2 emissions than conventional diesel.

Next goal: fully electric driving

Red je Pakketje's goal is to drive entirely electric by the end of 2022. In more sparsely populated areas, it currently runs on delivery buses using HVO100. COO Tijs van Driel: "The moment the action radius of electric buses is sufficient everywhere or we have reduced distances due to a more finely-meshed network of distribution centres, we will fully switch to electric driving. We are working hard to reach this next milestone before the end of 2022."
