Samsung wants to market a truck that motorists can 'see through'. The company developed a truck with a camera at the front. At the back of the truck, the recorded images are displayed on four screens. This allows motorists driving behind the Safety Truck to see exactly what is happening in front of the truck.
The new truck would greatly improve road safety, Samsung said. The manufacturer has tested the system on its trucks in Argentina, a country where many traffic deaths occur due to dangerous overtaking on two-lane roads.
Samsung's design is not entirely new. It previously built a similar truck for a customer, but this truck is no longer in use. Still, Samsung is convinced that it can save many lives in traffic. The manufacturer is now testing the truck. Before it can be launched on the market, a number of rules have to be met.
Question is whether the new truck will eventually be widely deployed, as the displays would be relatively expensive.
