Movianto, which handles distribution of corona vaccines in the Netherlands, is opening a new distribution centre in Weert. It is the French company's second Dutch location.
In August, healthcare logistics specialist Movianto will move into the 10,000-square-metre building. In Weert, it will store products in different temperature zones. Therefore, the DC will have a cold store and freezer room of 2,000 and 400 square metres respectively.
Movianto already has a distribution centre in Oss, which currently plays a major role in the distribution of the corona vaccine. This hall houses 24 large freezers that store the vaccines at a temperature of 70 degrees below 0. Movianto employees prepare the vaccines for shipment overnight. In a special cold room, they are thawed to 5 degrees Celsius, after which they are transported to the puncture sites.
The company is currently building another facility in Oss. There are also two distribution centres in Belgium. So from the summer, the Weert location will be added. Most of the products that Movianto stores in Weert come from the United States and will be distributed to around 190 countries.
The new location will eventually require between 70 and 90 employees. Movianto briefly considered setting up in Venlo, but that logistics hotspot fell out because of fewer staff available due to the many DCs in that area.
