Van Rooijen Logistiek will implement Boltrics' warehouse management system (WMS) at its sites in Eindhoven and Turnhout. With the choice of this WMS, with go-live scheduled for September 2026, the logistics provider wants to achieve more control over processes, workflows and future growth. At the same time, van Rooijen wants to benefit from the functional richness in the system, making customisation unnecessary.
Van Rooijen Logistiek is a family business, founded in 1947 and grown into an established name within the Benelux. With over 600 employees, around 230 trucks and four storage locations in Eindhoven and Turnhout, the organisation has more than 125,000 square metres of storage capacity.
Van Rooijen Logistics specialises in consumer products including confectionery, food, consumer electronics, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, displays and personal care products. To optimally support their customers, van Rooijen offers value added services in addition to warehousing and transport.
Autonomy as a strategic choice
In a market where speed and flexibility are decisive, Van Rooijen Logistiek wanted a platform that allows direct control and allows them to easily make adjustments to their logistics processes. "We wanted a WMS that allows us to modify processes and workflows ourselves," says Vincent Faassen, operations director at Van Rooijen Logistiek.
"Boltrics' WMS allows us to be at the controls ourselves. This gives us the flexibility we need to serve existing customers fully as required and to onboard new customers quickly. The system makes it possible to configure workflows per customer and thus make the system work according to a standard process with customer-specific exceptions."
Rich functionality
After an extensive selection process comparing several WMS vendors, another decisive factor was the industry-specific depth of functionality in the WMS. Boltrics was developed for and by more than 400 logistics service providers worldwide. That practical experience translates into comprehensive, proven workflows that are directly applicable in Van Rooijen's logistics operations.
"Many processes that are important to us turned out to already be standard in Boltrics' WMS," says Faassen. "That gave confidence that we don't need complex customised solutions. And helps keep our IT landscape manageable and further standardise processes across multiple locations."
Cloud strategy
With the new WMS, Van Rooijen is switching to a full SaaS (Software-as-a-Service) solution built on Microsoft Dynamics 365, allowing updates and further development to take place automatically. "We wanted to avoid facing another major upgrade in a few years' time," says Faassen. "With Boltrics' WMS solution, we stay up-to-date and can move with developments in the market."
Besides technology, cooperation played an important role in the decision-making process. According to Faassen, there was a clear click as far as content was concerned: "Boltrics' working method and experience in logistics services fitted in well with our organisation. Our conviction is also to organise as much as possible from already existing solutions and to keep improving from there. That gave confidence in long-term cooperation."
