Dutch transport and logistics is missing out on millions due to strikes in Belgium. This is what Transport en Logistiek Nederland (TNL) says to BNR. To make a fist against the government's austerity plans, many business sectors are on strike. The first strike took place on Monday 24 November. In other provinces, strikes will take place on 1 and 8 December and a nationwide strike is planned for 15 December.

4 to 5 million in losses
According to TNL, rail, shipping and road transport are incurring losses of around 4 to 5 million as a result. “If you can’t drive through Belgium for a day, you’re already losing 600 euros,” explains TLN chairman Arthur van Dijk. “So that adds up very quickly.”

Van Dijk recommends avoiding the country altogether on 15 December.
