Logistics usually keeps quietly in the background when it comes to national commercials or marketing stunts. We are mainly in the B2B market, so why invest money in expensive consumer commercials? A number of companies in logistics and transport did opt for this, and with success. We have listed some commercials that moved, amazed or made us laugh.
UPS fan
The most recent advert on the list, and by far the most heart-warming. UPS makes the dream of 4-year-old Carson, a huge UPS fan, come true. Under the slogan ‘UPS makes dreams come true’, UPS lets him work as a delivery driver for a day.
Flying mannequins
This marketing stunt showcased a logistical tour de force. We’ve been talking about drone parcel deliveries for years, but the Brazilian fashion chain Camisaria Colombo has taken it to a whole new level. The Brazilian fashion chain had entire mannequins flown in by drone. The fully dressed mannequins were flown to the head office in São Paulo to draw attention to the collection during Black Friday.
Free publicity
A clever stunt by DHL. The logistics provider managed to get its competitors UPS, TNT and DPD to provide free publicity for the company. See below how DHL achieved this using nothing more than a freezer.
Ship my pants
This advert makes us giggle like a bunch of 12-year-olds. K-markt is promoting its delivery service here by repeating the phrase ‘Ship my pants’ as often as possible. So often, in fact, that it almost sounds as if something else is being said.
The famous split
If your video has been viewed millions of times and is even being parodied, you know you’ve got a hit on your hands. In this (very expensive) Volvo advert, Jean-Claude van Damme performs his famous split whilst balancing on two Volvo lorries. And all to promote the new Volvo Dynamic Steering. There was a lot of speculation online that the advert was fake, but Volvo insists that nothing was edited in. The advert was apparently even filmed in a single take.
