US e-commerce company Amazon has found a new way to deliver its parcels. The Americans are looking for individuals with a car and an Android phone. They will serve as parcel drivers and can earn an extra penny that way.

Amazon Flex
Since late September, the company has launched Amazon Flex through which it aims to contribute to the sharing economy. Examples include Uber and Postmates, which also use private individuals to take people and packages away, respectively.

Drivers
Would-be parcel deliverers will share their property by driving parcels around and delivering them to consumers. Initially, these will be parcels for Amazon Prime Now, through which Amazon delivers within an hour. But soon the service will be extended to other Amazon packages as well. The parcel deliverers can earn between $18 and $25 an hour and decide whether to work a two-, four- or eight-hour shift and work the same day should they wish. Amazon writes on its own website: "'Be your own boss: deliver when you want, as much as you want.'"

Apart from using your own car and phone as a new employee, you also have to pass a test so the company knows who they are doing business with.

Something for you
Should you also want to benefit from the part-time jobs offered by Amazon, you will have to move to Seattle on the US west coast. After Seattle, Amazon Flex intends to soon expand the service further to Manhattan, Chicago, Baltimore, Miami, Dallas, Austin, Indianapolis, Atlanta, and Portland. When exactly this expansion will take place Amazon has not yet announced.
