Courier service UPS is making its biggest investment in the Netherlands with a new distribution centre in Eindhoven. The property will have an area of over 27,000 square metres and will replace the current two centres in Eindhoven.

UPS is investing 130 million euros in its new parcel sorting and distribution centre. The carrier sees Eindhoven as a strategic location due to the presence of multiple industries housed, including high-tech and healthcare. Besides a distribution centre for the region, the building will serve as a transit centre to the rest of the Netherlands and to Belgium and Germany.

The building will feature technology that will allow UPS to sort up to 29,000 parcels per hour. This may later be expanded to 50,000 parcels per hour. The new site will accommodate 100 UPS trucks and also have more than 100 loading and unloading bays.

The building is expected to open in the fourth quarter of 2018. It will then replace the two existing, smaller centres in Eindhoven and is expected to create 200 additional jobs.
