A multimodal hub on the water should significantly improve construction logistics in Amsterdam. To this end, the municipality of Amsterdam, Port of Amsterdam, Waternet and TNO have entered into a partnership.
The multimodal hub is located at the waterfront in the Amsterdam port. Building materials are bundled at this location and transported to the construction site by water or road. This should ultimately lead to fewer transport movements on the road and better air quality in the city.
Search for construction-related companies
The aim is for construction-related companies from the Amsterdam region to operate the construction hub and use it for construction projects in Amsterdam city centre.
Scaling up for multiple construction projects
The project has now started. An initial evaluation will take place in November 2018. If the results are positive, it will be followed up and scaled up for several construction projects in Amsterdam city centre.
