Dille & Kamille has swapped Zoetermeer for Waddinxveen. A new distribution centre offers the retail chain more space and comfort than the previous premises.

Since 20 April, Dille & Kamille has been located on the Dirk Verheulweg in Waddinxveen. According to the retailer, the building is 'larger, more modern, more comfortable and above all more sustainable'. In Zoetermeer, the company had already reached maximum capacity for years. "When we moved into the DC in Zoetmeer, we had 19 shops, now 35," says logistics manager Jan van der Nagel. "Last Christmas, we already had to rent additional storage space and some of our regular stock was also stored elsewhere. Moreover, our old premises were built at a time when sustainability was still a low priority. In Waddinxveen, this was high on our wish list."

In Waddinxveen, Dille & Kamille has around 1.75 times more floor space than in the old situation. Moreover, the premises are a lot higher. Storage capacity has increased from 5,200 to 12,500 pallet spaces. The building has eight docks for unloading and loading. In Zoetermeer, there were three.

The new distribution centre was built according to sustainability label BREEAM 'Very Good'. "In our new DC, we no longer use gas," explains van der Nagel. "The space is efficiently heated by means of a heat pump and underfloor heating. Soon we will install solar collectors on the roof; the energy generated will be used again here." The new building has more natural light and uses LED lighting, which only comes on when someone enters the space.
