Danone is moving into a new mega distribution centre in Cuijk, where a 56,000-square-metre building is being erected next to the food company's factory.
Danone is renting the building from VolkerWessels Logistics Development, which will start construction this month. The new distribution centre should help Danone improve and accelerate its European distribution. From Cuijk, Danone serves pharmacies, hospitals and retailers.
The DC will be located in business park Laarakker. Nutricia, part of Danone, opened a milk powder factory here in 2019, and the DC will be located next to it. Business park Laarakker is part of AgriFood Capital, a partnership of entrepreneurs, governments and educational institutions in the North-East Brabant region.
During construction, VolkerWessels is aiming for BREEAM Very Good sustainability certification. The 'all electric' distribution centre should help Danone achieve a CO2-neutral operation at this location.
Danone is expected to be operational in Cuijk from the fourth quarter of 2021. Some 100 employees will start working in the new building.
