The Human Environment and Transport Inspectorate (ILT) is working on a new system for monitoring taxi transport. What is special about this is that the ILT is not opting to call for tenders. In consultation with its chain partners, the inspectorate prescribes the architecture and looks for ICT companies willing to build a commercial solution for taxi operators based on this architecture. In the short term, the ILT is organising information sessions for this purpose. A digital platform has also been created to inform stakeholders and interested parties.
The ILT supervises taxi transport with the aim of contributing to safe taxi transport and fair competition in the taxi market. The inspection largely focuses on drivers' compliance with working and rest times (a&r). Now, the data needed to monitor these times are recorded in the Onboard Taxi Computer (BCT), which must be installed in every taxi vehicle. This involves data on the vehicle, driver, taxi company, taxi journeys and working and rest times, also known as the taxi supervision data.
