On the mega-distribution centre of fashion brand Michael Kors in Venlo, 28,000 solar panels have been installed. This makes the roof the largest single roof solar power project in the Netherlands.

With an area of 80,000 square metres, the roof of Micheal Kors' DC lends itself perfectly to solar panels. The 28,000 panels generate 7,000,000 kilowatt hours of sustainable energy annually, good for powering around 2,000 households. Half of the generated energy goes to the distribution centre, with the remaining green power being offered to businesses and residents in the region.

Etriplus, the energy development company of Greenport Venlo, developed the plan for the solar power project. KiesZon was responsible for the development, financing, realisation and operation of the project. The province of Limburg contributed financially to the additional costs of the roof construction and the connection to the electricity grid.
