Zeeman's distribution centre will be covered with additional solar panels. The system can generate 2.2 million kilowatt hours of solar power annually after the expansion.
In early 2017, Zeeman already had 6,700 solar panels installed on the roof of its DC in Alphen aan de Rijn. Another 1,948 solar panels will now be added. To install the panels, Zeeman appealed to the SDE+ subsidy scheme, which is intended for companies that want to invest in renewable energy.
Zeeman has more than 1,250 stores in the Benelux, Germany, France, Austria and Spain. From its distribution centre in Alphen aan den Rijn, the non-food chain supplies all physical shops.
