Amazon thinks public transport is the perfect place for having parcels picked up. The etail giant has therefore patented a parcel locker (on wheels) on public transport, allowing shoppers to collect their order on their way home.
The patent application for 'Mobile Pickup Locations' states that consumers can use their smartphones to specify which bus they take from work. On this bus, they can pick up their parcel from the locker.
Patents
Amazon is busy applying for patents, with earlier this year applying for a 3D printer at the front door. It also recently got approval for its patent application on drone delivery. The year before, the retailer applied for - and received - a patent on photographing products against a white background. This method involves creating a crisp white background without digital tools. Despite the patent obtained, this is not an Amazon invention at all, but a commonly used technique among photographers.
