Logistics service provider CB is building a new warehouse on the site of the old 'overflow' warehouse at Erasmusweg 5 in Culemborg. The warehouse will be around 10,000 square metres and will provide space for 48,000 storage locations.
CB has grown in recent years. To properly support that growth, we are building a new, sustainable warehouse on the site of our old one that has twice the storage capacity.
The new warehouse will be used for central bulk storage of books, just like the old one. It comprises about 10,000 square metres of warehouse, 400 square metres of office and 2 mezzanine floors of about 1,600 square metres each.
The demolition of the old warehouse has now been fully completed. The first pile went into the ground in September 2023. The warehouse is expected to be commissioned in autumn 2024.
Sustainable according to the latest standards
We are making the new warehouse as sustainable as possible. For example, by reusing existing materials and applying state-of-the-art technology in terms of building materials, light ingress, gas-free heating, etc. Demolition rubble, for instance, provides most of the new embankment needed under the floor.
The warehouse will more than meet the so-called BREEAM Excellent standard for sustainable buildings.
