Drivers who spend days away from home often lack the necessary luxuries. After all, sleeping in the cab is not exactly to write home about. According to EVO, this is slowly changing in the US. In fact, American drivers would choose to take the luxuries of home with them on the road as well, the shippers' organisation writes.

Trucks belonging to these drivers are equipped with a kitchen, bedroom, living room and even a bathroom. This increases comfort and, in some cases, even allows the whole family to come along.

Luxury trucks are an expensive joke. The driving houses sometimes cost $250,000 (€225,000). On the other hand, it also allows drivers to earn more. Because the family can ride along and life in the trucks is comfortable, they take on more jobs and sometimes stay on the road longer.

Although trucks are a bit on the expensive side now; the luxury could potentially attract new drivers in the future. The American Trucking Association expects as many as 100,000 million drivers to be needed by 2024 to meet demand.
