DB Schenker is expanding its operations at Luxembourg Airport. The carrier is building a new logistics centre at the airport that will accommodate 100 employees.
DB Schenker has been operating in Luxembourg since 1989. The company started as a central air freight hub and over the years expanded acitivities into sea freight, land transport and logistics services.
New location
The logistics provider sees Luxembourg Airport as one of the most important European airports. The hub offers direct connections to important global consumer markets. As further growth was not possible at the current site, DB Schenker decided to look for a new construction site near Luxembourg Airport. This was found at the Eurohub Centre in Contern. The building yet to be built will have an area of around 15,000 square metres, of which DB Schenker will lease around 7,000 square metres from WDP.
Expansion of loading and unloading capacity and VAL
"From our new terminal, we can offer a full service portfolio across the entire supply chain," says Axel Quadt, Managing Director Schenker Luxembourg. "The new facility will allow us to significantly increase the loading and unloading capacity of air freight shipments. We will also further expand our value added services and groupage services with connection to the DB Schenker network."
The new site is expected to open by the end of 2021.
