DHG is building a logistics centre of no less than 210,000 square metres on Maasvlakte West. Half of the surface area is intended for logistics service provider Odin Warehousing. DHG speaks of the 'largest logistics development ever in the Netherlands'.
As soon as the building permits are in, DHG will start construction of the complex. The contract with the Port of Rotterdam Authority covers a thirty-hectare site at Distripark Maasvlakte West. Here DHG will develop a 210,000-square-metre logistics centre, intended for rental. Logistics service provider Odin Warehousing has signed as the first client, for an area of 135,000 square metres. The logistics service provider focuses on the storage of products with a sustainable character, such as solar panels.
DHG is building around 90,000 square metres at risk. This involves four distribution centres of 22,000 square metres each.
About the development of the XXL complex, DHG says it is "choosing locations as carefully as possible". "Developments should be as little as possible at the expense of the character of the Dutch landscape. DHG therefore mainly invests in the sustainable redevelopment of existing business sites and outdated port areas or in locations specifically created for industry and distribution, such as Rotterdam's Maasvlakte," said Willem Slager, partner at DHG.
DHG expects to deliver the complex in early 2022.
