DHL Express continues to open service points in the Netherlands. In Zwolle, it is currently building a Service Centre at business park Hessenpoort. In Hoofddorp, construction of new premises starts today.
The new building in Zwolle, involving an investment of 11 million euros, has currently reached its highest point. From Zwolle, Friesland, Groningen, Drenthe and part of Overijssel will be served. More than 130 employees will work there.

Capacity expansion in Hoofddorp
Today, DHL Express starts the construction of a Service Centre in Hoofddorp. In the Amsterdam region, the logistics player already has a location, but the growth in international express shipments in this region required expansion of capacity. From Hoofddorp, all routes will be handled in the Haarlem area and the area above the North Sea Canal, including Texel. Over 50 employees move from the Schiphol site to Hoofddorp.
BREEAM certification
Upon completion, the Service Centre in Zwolle will meet the BREEAM sustainability hallmark 'outstanding', will have sufficient solar panels to be self-sufficient in electricity and will also be gas-free. The Service Centre in Hoofddorp will be awarded the BREEAM excellent designation.
Bicycle couriers
From Zwolle and Hoofddorp, bicycle couriers are also delivered. In Zwolle, bicycle containers are loaded for the DHL City Hub in Groningen. This is a location in the city centre, from which especially bicycle couriers serve the city centre. Containers especially developed for this form of sustainable city distribution are loaded in Zwolle and transported to Groningen by van and special trailer. There, the containers can easily be placed on a container bicycle, the so-called Cubicycle. The Cubicycle is also used in Zwolle and next year it will be Leeuwarden's turn.
