DHL Express has opened a new Service Centre in Zwolle for international express shipments. The carrier invested over 11 million euros in the premises.

From the new Service Centre, DHL handles the rapidly growing number of express shipments for North Holland: Friesland, Groningen, Drenthe and parts of Overijssel, Gelderland, Flevoland and the Wadden Islands. The carrier expects to process more than five thousand international time-critical express shipments here every day. The Service Centre employs over 140 people.

Loading containers

It is the first branch where part of the warehouse has been specially equipped to load containers for City Hubs. The building has 45 docks for loading and unloading delivery vans and trailers. In addition to delivery vans and trucks, the branch also supplies Cubicycles: containerised bicycles with one cubic metre of loading space that operate in the centres of Groningen and Zwolle.

Zwolle is the second facility in the Dutch express network to receive the highest possible sustainability rating with 'BREEAM outstanding'. Construction was carried out by Aan de Stegge Twello.

Three times more shipments

DHL will continue to invest in expanding its network in the near future. DHL Express' nine Service Centres in the Netherlands currently handle three times as many shipments as barely a decade ago. The company has so far invested 57 million euros in expanding and renewing the Dutch branch of its express network.
