Docdata is set to
support retailers in setting up collection points. The logistics
service provider is rolling out Click & Collect for the first time at De Bijenkorf.

According to
Docdata, the collection points essentially function as ‘mini-fulfilment centres’.
Docdata Click & Collect operates via a web-based application. When an
order is placed, the fulfilment company collects the order
from the warehouse. These are then sent to De Bijenkorf branches.
De Bijenkorf staff scan these parcels on arrival using iPods and
also record the specific storage location, which is marked with
barcode stickers from Docdata.

The customer is then notified that the parcel has arrived at the Bijenkorf branch
of their choice. They take their order confirmation, which includes a QR code,
to the shop, where it is scanned by a shop assistant. The code then
immediately reveals where the parcel is located in the shop’s stockroom. The item can
then also be returned to the shop via the Docdata system.

Docdata Click & Collect is available at Bijenkorf from 1 March.
