DSV is investing more than 260 million euros in the development of Europe's largest logistics centre. The property will be located in the Danish city of Horsens and will have an area of more than 300,000 square metres.
Horsens, located in the Mid Jutland region, serves as a strategic hub for transport between the Nordic countries and the rest of Europe for DSV. The logistics provider has several logistics facilities in Horsens, but these existing premises cannot keep up with DSV's current and expected growth. Moreover, the company thinks it can work more efficiently by consolidating modalities. In future, the Air & Sea, Road and Solutions divisions will be organised from a central location.
Europe's 'largest distribution centre' will have a warehouse of up to 270,000 square metres. To this will be added a cross-docking facility of 50,000 square metres and office space of 18,000 square metres.
DSV will have its hands full with the project in the coming years. Construction will start in a year's time. By the end of 2022, the logistics provider aims to gradually occupy the building. Construction will then take another three years. By 2026, DSV is expected to be fully operational there.
