Inther, Neopost and RAVAS are still in the race for the Logistica Award. They may be voted the most innovative, logistics solution of 2015 during Logistica on 10 November.
A total of 12 parties competed for the Logistica Award, of which three now advance to the next round. That is fewer entries than during the previous edition in 2012, when 18 innovations competed. "We selected 6 semi-finalists from the entries, from which 3 finalists were eventually chosen," said jury chairman René de Koster during the announcement of the nominees.
During the announcement, the nominees presented their innovation
to the press in attendance.
Inther
Inther Logistics Engineering is participating with the innovation ADA: Automated Document Applicator. This is a solution for automatically applying the packing note and transport documents, on the outside of the parcel. For now, these documents are often sent with the parcel, but in many cases it is mandatory to have these documents visible on the outside. "This is a solution to a growing problem," says De Koster. "In many countries, customs want the documents on the outside."

Neopost
Neopost developed the CVP-500. "This device also offers a solution to a problem," says De Koster. Namely, the CVP-500 packs fully automatically into a minimal box that saves volume, cardboard and filling material. Indeed, many carriers, especially in the US, have decided that shipping rates are calculated based on the volume of a parcel. The CVP-500 minimises that volume. "This is a fast product, with which big savings are conceivable. The disadvantage is that it is an expensive product, but you recover that on materials and personnel," says De Koster.
RAVAS
At first glance, RAVAS' innovation seems a lot simpler than the other nominees. The company came up with the tripe-scale forks on the collection truck. This is a mobile weighing system for sort-while pick collecting, with up to 3 linked scales in the forks. Such products actually already exist, but were not yet equipped with multiple scales. "That sounds very simple, but it is not," says de Koster. "This is because it is difficult to precisely split the weight on the different forks." According to the jury president, the payback time of this product is very short. "It is a cheap product that pays for itself within six months."
Assessment criteria
The nominees will be assessed by the expert jury on their practical value, degree of innovation, economic significance, cost-effectiveness, creativity, use of ICT and Dutch contribution. In addition to the expert jury prize, a public choice award will also be presented. Visitors can vote for their preferred nomination on the website or whilst registering to attend the exhibition. The entry with the most votes wins the Public’s Choice Award.
