US investment company Blackstone has set up a new company in logistics real estate: Mileway. The new company, based at Amsterdam's Zuidas, already owns €8 billion worth of logistics halls.
This writes the Financieel Dagblad.Blackstone has collected all the logistics properties in its portfolio and transferred them to Mileway. About a fifth of the properties were bought in recent months. Blackstone wants to grow Mileway's number of properties and sell them to investors in a few years.
Real estate near consumer
Mileway plans to expand across Europe in the coming period. In the Netherlands, it focuses on distribution centres around the four major cities, close to consumers. From these sites, products are delivered directly to consumers. Mileway's distribution centres are in Hoofddorp and Zaandam, for example.
