Trailer manufacturer Krone and Platform Science are introducing an integrated telematics system aimed at improving coupling between tractors and semi-trailers. Because the system is open and brand-independent, it is ideally suited to large mixed fleets. Anyone buying a trailer from Krone will receive the telematics system ready-to-go.
The telematics system is available in three flavours. The basic package only provides insight into GPS coordinates, while the premium package also offers data from the electronic braking system, tyre pressure monitoring system and door sensors. For hauliers of refrigerated and frozen goods, the premium cool package offers the option of continuous monitoring of the temperature in the trailer.
"With Krone, we now clear the final hurdle and make the use of a telematics solution for the entire truck combination easier than before," states Lutz Seigert, who at Platform Science is responsible for the German-speaking countries, among others. Maximilian Birle, head of telematics and digital services at Krone: "With Platform Science, we are creating a solution that is ready to use immediately after delivery and is fully visible in the customer's system. This reduces the workload for IT departments and in digital terms increases the added value of our trailers."
