The European Union is releasing 60 million euros to improve infrastructure in the Netherlands. Much of this money will go towards the construction of the new Sea Lock at IJmuiden.
Improve transport corridors
A total of 700 grant applications were submitted to the European Commission for the so-called TEN-T funds. This money is intended to remove bottlenecks and technical problems in transport corridors. In addition, the subsidy should ensure a greener and smarter transport sector.

Projects neighbouring countries
Besides the €60 million our country receives, we also benefit from projects neighbouring countries develop with TEN-T funds. These include a grant for the German canal network and the railway between Zevenaar and Oberhausen. In addition, €979 million will be released for the Seine-Escaut project, creating a link between the Seine and the Western Scheldt.
