Logistics property developer Panattoni has joined Dutch Green Building Council (DGBC). DGBC aims to promote and accelerate sustainability in the built environment in the Netherlands. Among other things, the foundation is developer and manager of the BREEAM hallmark in the Netherlands. This quality mark is the world's leading method for assessing sustainability in the construction sector.

Some 380 companies and organisations from the construction and real estate world, as well as major end users, municipalities and knowledge institutions support DGBC's mission. For logistics property developer Panattoni, which has sustainability as a major spearhead, membership of DGBC is a logical step. With this, the company wants to actively contribute to the further greening of the logistics real estate sector. In order to keep the quality requirements of the BREEAM-NL certificate for this sector high, Panattoni will contribute to the further improvement of this certificate. Rudy van der Helm, manager Development and Management of DGBC: "DGBC plays an important role in the transition to a circular economy in which it is pleasant and healthy to live, work and play. Panattoni's efforts have a measurable positive impact with the use of BREEAM-NL."

Jeroen Gerritsen, managing director Panattoni Netherlands: "As a family business, we continue to invest in the future of the next generation. We set high standards for our developments in the field of sustainability and want to further increase sustainability in the short term with solutions that directly have a positive impact on the well-being of our tenants, the surrounding area and the environment. Our team is working on a daily basis to monitor, analyse and optimise the sustainable performance of our projects. The partnership and knowledge exchange with companies and organisations with the same mission as Dutch Green Building Council is invaluable to us in this respect, and we look forward to fleshing out this collaboration in the coming period."

Contributing to the quality

Panattoni's buildings meet the highest sustainability requirements, resulting in all completed Panattoni projects in the Netherlands being developed in accordance with BREEAM-NL Very Good certification. For new developments, Panattoni continues to raise the bar. The first BREEAM-NL Excellent building, Panattoni Park Twente, will therefore open its doors in spring 2024.

Rudy van der Helm: "As partners, we are also looking for each other in the coming years. Where do we want to be together in ten years' time? What should sustainable logistics buildings look like then? As a DGBC partner, Panattoni can actively contribute to substantive changes to BREEAM-NL. This way, we keep the quality requirements high together. Panattoni employees can think along and thus contribute to the quality of this sustainability measure. We include their ideas, as well as those of all other partners, in our considerations."

Jeroen Gerritsen: "Panattoni has delivered and is developing several sustainable distribution centres. With this experience, as a partner we are looking together with Dutch Green Building Council at how we can set up BREEAM-NL even better."
