Dutch people who want to be retrained on the forklift truck should not opt for quick, cheap forklift training in the process. EVO warns against this. These courses would eventually turn out to be expensive.
Forklift drivers are currently in high demand. Many jobseekers are therefore choosing to undergo forklift training, whether on the advice of employment agencies or the UWV or otherwise. Many people have to pay for these courses themselves, opting for a cheap alternative.
Wild growth in cheap training courses
As a result, shippers' organisation EVO notes a proliferation of cheap and fast forklift training courses. Today, for example, there are also fast, online courses on offer whose quality is debatable. The trainers allegedly lure people with terms like 'safety first' and 'cheap and nice and fast', but meanwhile do not promote safety.
Responsibility with employment agencies and UWV
To prevent people from choosing these providers, EVO wants employment agencies and the UWV to only work with institutions that meet safety criteria. Employers also have a responsibility here. Employers should also be vigilant when they choose to train their employees.
Criteria for choosing a trainer
There are a number of criteria to consider. BLOM opleidingen has previously produced a short guide to this. For example, a quality training course lasts a minimum of two course days, of which one is theory and one is practical. This is because it would not be realistic to learn how to drive a forklift truck in one day.
A good trainer can also be recognised by the CEDEO recognition. This certificate guarantees the quality of the training. You can find the recognition on the institute's website or through the CEDEO website. It is also advisable to look up reviews about the trainer in question. This will ensure that you make the right choice in your search for a good trainer.
